The food donation program is designed to connect local, non-profit food users with local restaurants and other food service businesses to donate edible food that would otherwise be thrown away. The food donators are covered under the Good Samaritan Law. However, to further reduce problems associated with food donation, the City will help provide equipment, the volunteers will need to safely handle and transport the donated food, and some ServSafe food handling safety training. The training will also include help in quantification of the pounds of food diverted that would otherwise be disposed of for tonnage and tax credit purposes. The SWAP site will provide program support through connecting the food-generating businesses with food users, interested parties, and volunteers. The City does not sponsor any of the donations, we are facilitating the relationship. Please contact the individual food users for information on their needs and donations. Browsing food listings is easy. Select the materials and display options you would like using the left navigation panel then click search. For more advanced searches you may select to "Search By Region", "Search By Date", or "Search By Item Number."
